Mti Mkubwa – Shira 2 Camp

Traverse through moorlands and heath, ascending to Shira 2 Camp. The landscape transforms into open expanses with scattered shrubs. Temperatures range from 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), offering glimpses of Kilimanjaro's diverse ecology.

Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Ascend towards Lava Tower, acclimatizing to the altitude. Descend to Barranco Camp, passing through the breathtaking Barranco Wall. The temperature drops to 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F), surrounded by striking alpine desert scenery.

Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp

Push towards Barafu Camp, the base for the summit attempt. Temperatures drop significantly to below freezing, around -5°C to 5°C (23°F to 41°F). The landscape shifts to rocky terrain, preparing you for the final ascent.
